Upon the publication of my letter to the editor last week about grading, it came to my attention (via my co-clerks) that I had misspoken. In a parenthetical, I wrote: “although many of my classmates would likely challenge my modesty.” I did not intend to imply that my classmates would think of me as a future legal giant, as this parenthetical seems to imply. Instead, what I meant to say was something along the lines of “although many of my classmates would likely not agree that I am so humble of a guy.” In other words, I meant to say that many of my classmates likely think of me as having quite an ego–a view that I, no doubt, inadvertently furthered. Sorry for the confusion.
