The Harvard Black Law Students Association celebrated a quarter-century of discussion, inspiration, and networking last weekend at their 25th annual conference, “The Black Community in the New Millennium: Assessing our Progress and Crafting our Future.” Keynote speakers included Dr. Johnetta Cole, president emerita of Spelman College and Bennet College, Congressman Artur Davis ’93, Dr. Julia Dare, director of the Black Think Tank, Debra Lee, chair and CEO of BET Networks, and Judge Ann C. Williams of the 7th Circuit.
Panels examined topics as diverse as the generation gap in the black community, a panel of federal judges, “divided loyalties” for black women, and the role of the black church social action, while students, lawyers, and community members socialized at an evening reception and Sunday inspirational brunch.
