The 2/3 issue [Record, Feburary 3rd, 2005] photos of ice skating pushed my nostalgia button!

At some time during my 1954-1957 sojourn at HLS, one of my scholarship/loan “jobs” was to haul the fire hose out of the dorm, prop it up on a saw-horse, and flood the lawn area (near the world tree) to make ice. My recollection is that little or no skating took place because the water froze in hills and ridges and the surface was unsuitable. But I kept trying, and continued to be paid.

It is good to see that someone has devised a less primitive method for making ice.
