Poem: A moon over law school

BY ROGER PAO

an unopened honeydew: poised against a black-blue plate: the moon pressed at a distance: the moon as fine as an indigo morning leaves no imprint in its wake:

a seashell: a glass palindrome: above Boston the moon burnishes the window

of a vacant barber shop: the moon spotlights a can of shaving cream: that echo of men

who speak between snips of wet hair: the moon oars off to law school: friends laugh over their baseball: (the summer grass bore witness to fraternities

of pick-up games: high pop fly: surprise triple: a joke about the lawyer who slid too hard

into home): the moon senses longing between silences: the moon

as elegant as a memory of silverware: as solitary as pure intent
