Last week, the Record profiled Obama’s Class of 1991 friends Julius Genachowski and Chris Lu, whom he tapped to serve on the advisory board and as Executive Director of the Obama-Biden Transition Project, respectively.
This week, both have been promoted to higher responsibilities. Lu, who is currently managing the day-to-day operations of the transition, will serve as Obama’s Cabinet Secretary, likely using his legislative affairs background to provide advice to the administration’s departmental chiefs.
Genachowski will be one of the leaders of the transition’s policy working group on Technology, Innovation, and Government Reform, perhaps advising the new administration on ways it can use technology to increase governmental transparency.
