Ronald A. Klain ’87 became the first HLS alumnus to be officially selected as a member of the new administration last Wednesday, when he was tapped to serve as Vice President-elect Joe Biden’s Chief of Staff.

Klain graduated from Georgetown and clerked for Justice White. After working for Rep. Ed Markey and the Senate Democratic Leadership Committee, he held a variety of roles in the Clinton administration, including oversight of Justice Ginsburg’s confirmation process and stints as Chief of Staff for AG Janet Reno ’63 and Vice President Gore. As General Counsel to the Gore campaign, he led efforts to push for the 2000 Florida recount.

Prior to being selected by Biden, Klain had been working for the firm O’Melveny & Myers and the investment firm Revolution LLC.
