Assistant Dean for Admissions Toby Stock: Don’t be afraid to take risks.
Professor Elizabeth Warren: The only serious professional mistake you can make when you leave Harvard is to settle for work that you don’t love. Don’t stop looking until you find work that makes you want to jump out of bed and get started every morning.
Professor Jonathan Zittrain: No advice, except to have a wonderful summer and fulfilling work beyond — within or without the law, wherever genuine interest leads.
Professor Richard Fallon: You’ve spent your whole lives training to have the career that you really want to have. Now your career starts–and make sure, from the first day, that it is the career you really want to have. If you go on making it your ambition to “keep doors open,” you run the risk–far greater than the risk of letting any single door slam shut–that you’ll never actually get to do work that you find attractive, rewarding, or desirable for its own sake.
Dean Elena Kagan: Thanks to the students of HLS for making this year so terrific. Here’s to a picture-perfect graduation day for 3Ls/LLMs and a wonderful summer for all.
Mark Weber, Assistant Dean for Career Services: Learn as much as you can and know that you and/or your interests may change over time. Be adaptable to change and enjoy the incredible journey that you are about to begin. Finally, always remember your family, friends and all the people that have helped you along the way. \Wishing you all the very best.
