Overheard in the Hark

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be printed in…OVERHEARD IN THE HARK

The reports of Ben Smiley’s death have been highly exaggerated.

We are happy to report that Ben is alive and well. We are less happy to report the following excerpts from the message board at xoxohth.com (many deserving posts have been omitted due to space constraints).

Date: February 18th, 2007 11:51 PMAuthor: hlssection6I feel like we should have some sort of a memorial service for Ben Smiley (in case anyone didn’t hear, he passed away this weekend). I realize Dean Kagan probably doesn’t want to attract too much attention to the circumstances surrounding his death, but we could still try to work with the Dean’s office to at least do some sort of tribute. Also it would probably help to make his family feel better if we told them we did something to remember him. ——-Date: February 18th, 2007 11:58 PMAuthor: geffeni don’t know what will happen, they will probably at least make note of it in the hls record though, don’t you think? regardless i am shocked. he seemed like a happy go lucky type of guy. ——-Date: February 19th, 2007 12:26 AMAuthor: Grantslet’s meet at 10:00 in the hark (downstairs) to discuss. at least this will give people a chance to talk about it which will help their emotions. i am still in shock. i can’t believe they haven’t cancelled crim. ——-Date: February 19th, 2007 1:06 AMAuthor: hlsmagnaDean Cosgrove is freaking out about this because it’s the first suicide at HLS in a really long time. I just talked to someone who just got off the phone with her. They will do something but she has to talk to Kagan first. They have to balance the need to be therapeutic with the need for P.R.——-Date: February 19th, 2007 1:08 AMAuthor: PennHLSFrom Ben: I am quite alive. Now most of you are wondering why I felt the need to say that. Well, [link to message board].I have NO IDEA who did this. So yeah, I am here. I was had a mild tummy ache last night but other than that I am pretty good right now.
